Part of Dubai Metro Closed for 18 Months

The RTA has announced that part of the Dubai Metro Red Line will be closed for 18 months to enable construction work to be carried out for the extension of the line as part of Route 2020. This is the same area that was closed for 10 weeks earlier this year.

Stations

The closure will be between Ibn Battuta Station and Jumeirah Lakes Towers Station which includes Nakheel Harbour and Tower Station in between. Nakheel Harbour and Tower will be completely rebuilt in the process to link in with the new route.

Closure Dates

The stations will close between 5th January 2018 and the middle of 2019.

Passengers who wish to travel between those stations will need to take a bus instead and this could add an extra 20 minutes to their journeys. Passengers can get off at both of the stations (Jumeirah Lake Towers and Ibn Battuta) but will not be able to travel further unless they get the bus that links the stations. Once they have got back onto the Metro at either end they will be able to continue with their journey as normal.

See below for details of the free shuttle bus that will be running between the stations that will be closed.
