New Year’s Eve 2017

New Year’s Eve at the Burj Khalifa is always busy!

Celebrations for 31st December 2017

It is set to be another year of spectacular celebrations in Dubai.

On the event of New Year’s Eve 2017 (31st December) the RTA and the Dubai Media Office has announced that there will be some changes to the Dubai metro operational hours as follows:

Burj Khalifa metro station, as per last year, will be closed from 10pm so people are advised to arrive in the area early enough for the celebrations. It may even close earlier if it is deemed necessary.

It will then not open again until 6am the next day (1st January) so you will need to find an alternative route to get home from that area.

Downtown Dubai will be closed to traffic from 8pm (and earlier for some streets) so it is essential to use public transport to get to the area.

The other stations near Downtown Dubai will be taking on the load of the extra capacity and will stay open so that revellers can alight at either Business Bay station or Financial Centre metro station and walk to the Burj Khalifa area from those stations if they are travelling later than 10pm.

There will be special pedestrian crossings to enable safe passage to the area and there will be designated walking routes for bachelors and families.

The Metro will run all through the night (apart from Burj Khalifa station) and then right though until the end of service on 1st January, so wherever you are in Dubai, you will be able to travel home by Metro.

There will be a large number of buses in service throughout the evening and night of 31st December and there will be 4000 taxis deployed.

Both the green line and the red line on the Dubai Metro will be open until Midnight on 2nd January (i.e. at the end of the day of 1st January) so services will be running continuously for around 43 hours to get everyone moving around the city.

The area around the Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai is always very busy on New Year’s Eve, as the fireworks make a spectacular sight, so make sure to allow yourselves plenty of time to get there to enjoy the celebrations.
