September 2014: The RTA has confirmed that the very busy station at Al Karama will be renamed Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) Station under the plan to give commercial entities the ability to buy naming rights for the Metro stations.
This adds yet another station to the metro system (this one on the red line) where passengers may ask ‘where is this station?’ as it is not named after the locality but instead after a bank, albeit that the bank has one of its largest branches in Karama.
There are a number of stations that the RTA have sold the naming rights to and this is the latest one on the list. So if anyone says you need to go to Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank Station well you need to remember that it is in fact in Karama.
