The work on the extension to the Red Line of the Dubai Metro from Nakheel Harbour and Tower station to the Expo 2020 site will be started in 2016.
The exact date seems to be a source of debate right now with some sources stating a construction start date of April 2016 and others quoting the ‘second half’ of 2016 which would mean a start date of at least July 2016.
Tenders are due to be in for the construction phase by December 2015 and the winner of the construction project will be announced in January 2016.
Whenever the start date of construction, the red line extension, which consists of an additional 7 stations, will be complete by the beginning of 2020, in time for the start of the Expo.
