Which Dubai Metro Stations are Being Renamed?

The RTA has announced more changes to the names of some of the Dubai Metro stations – this time 5 stations. But which Dubai metro stations are being renamed?

Station Name Change 1

The first station to be renamed is the station previously known as Al Fahidi – this station is on the green line and is between Burjuman and Al Ras. This station will now be called Sharaf DG. And yes, if you are thinking there used to be a station called Sharaf DG, you are correct. Just to confuse matters, it used to be the station currently known as Mashreq (between Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Internet City) which was only renamed in May 2020.

Station Name Change 2

The second station to be renamed is First Abu Dhabi Bank which will become Umm Al Sheef. This is the station between Noor Bank and Mall of the Emirates which started life as First Gulf Bank until the bank merger in 2018.

Station Name Change 3

The third station is Noor Bank which is being changed to Al Safa – this is the station which was previously between Business Bay and First Abu Dhabi Bank (now between Business Bay and Al Sheef).

Station Name Change 4

The fourth station to be renamed is Damac Station which is returning to its original name of Dubai Marina, bringing it back to the name of its actual location.

Station Name Change 5

The fifth station is Nakheel, which will be renamed Al Khail. This is the station between Dubai Internet City and what is now Dubai Marina.

So this below is a graphic showing the original map before the name changes and the updated map for 2021. Some of the station name changes will take place over the coming months so you may not see the changes immediately but the RTA advises that all changes should be complete by the end of February 2021.
